About the Hunger Action Center:
The Hunger Action Center provides a great hands-on experience in a diverse and social atmosphere. Groups and individual volunteers come together to inspect, sort, and pack quality grocery donations to prepare for distribution to nearly 700 partner agencies across Georgia.
Food Donations: With 1 in every 9 Georgians at risk of hunger, the number of people requesting emergency food assistance continues to grow. If every volunteer visiting our Hunger Action Center brings just two cans of food, we would be able to provide approximately 2,750 additional meals each month!
*Please consider bringing as many nonperishable items as you can! You're already making a tremendous difference by volunteering. Think how much that can be magnified by grabbing a couple of food items to bring with you when you come! We're always in need of natural peanut butter, canned chicken, and canned fruits & vegetables. Click here for our full list of most needed food items.
Education Workshops: Want to make your service day more impactful? Consider adding an education workshop to your service day! Our Education team offers free, interactive group workshops for 3rd grade through adult audiences. Workshops educate the community about the Food Bank and the issues that surround hunger and food insecurity as well as help participants identify ways to take action. These experiences can be tailored to the age, knowledge level and number of participants. Workshops can be done before or after your volunteer shift, depending on staff and space availability. Reach out to the Education team at education@acfb.org for more information.
Thank you for volunteering with us. If you have any more questions, please let me know.
NOTE: Please call us no less than 2 weeks before your volunteer date for cancellations.
